Installation Guide

Roof preparation, fastening and placement

Recommended staggered TSC Zinc snow guard installation on a metal roof

Required surface

Continuous support beneath the metal roofing, using minimum 5/8-inch plywood or doubled rows of furring strips where the guards will be fastened.

Fastening

  • Cover the entire back of the snow guard base with a non-shrinking sealant, such as ADSEAL4550 by ADFAST or SUPPRA EXPERT by MULCO.
  • Fasten the snow guards in the middle of the roof panels using 2-inch #14 (#12) wood screws.

Placement recommendations

  • Arrange the snow guards along the roof edge in a staggered pattern or in rows, starting approximately 10 inches from the edge and spacing guards 12 inches apart.
  • Use approximately one row of snow guards for every 10 linear feet of roof-panel length: one row for 9-foot panels, two rows for 18-foot panels, and three rows for 25-foot panels.
